Drawn from our experience in postgraduate healthcare professional education and patient self-management programmes, the Leicester Diabetes Centre has developed a portfolio of training and professional development courses. These courses are suitable for a wide range of healthcare professionals and support staff working in primary care. These can be divided into three broad areas:
These highly regarded courses, taken as part of a postgraduate qualification or as standalone modules, will help you to develop your clinical and academic skills to become an expert practitioner in diabetes. By studying with us you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to provide effective, high quality, evidence-based care whilst gaining transferable academic research skills.
The modules can be taken either individually for CPD credits or as part of a postgraduate course (MSc, Diploma or Certificate). If you would prefer to simply attend the taught sessions but are not seeking accreditation, you are also welcome to apply at a reduced rate.
The key aim of EDEN is to up skill healthcare professions who are delivering diabetes care. EDEN is a comprehensive training package, which provides knowledge and skills to deliver high levels of diabetes care to patients in the community. It is hoped that this more effective model will reduce hospital admissions and referrals to specialist care. It underpins the transformation of diabetes services and strategy.
EDEN offers both one and two day mini modules covering topics from insulin management to hypoglycaemia, to shorter study days and evenings designed to fit around the hectic schedule of busy healthcare professionals.
EDEN training enables practices to achieve enhanced level competencies or build on existing levels of diabetes care in core practices, whilst also addressing cultural diversity in diabetes.
