Our meeting aim is to raise the profile of self-management and prevention by:
Establishing a forum for discussing and developing new approaches in diabetes self-management and prevention
Broadly disseminating knowledge, challenges and needs in modern diabetes self-management and prevention
Contributing to a state of the art position paper on the challenges of and recommendations for development and research
The meeting will be opened by the Rt. Hon Keith Vaz MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Diabetes, UK.

Prof Lawrence Fisher – Working in the Behavioral Diabetes Research Group, University of California, USA. Lawrence Fisher leads on studies looking at behavioural change interventions
Dr Natalia Piana - An expert in therapeutic education for those with chronic diseases and in training health care professionals in therapeutic patient education based at the University of Perugia, Italy
Prof Bjarne Bruun Jensen - As director of Steno Health Promotion Research, Steno Diabetes Center in Gentofte, Denmark, Bjarne is a front-runner in health promotion research in diabetes
Prof Melanie Davies – Internationally-renowned in the field of diabetes and beyond, Melanie’s research interests include prevention, self-management and treatment of type 2 diabetes.
