Leicester Diabetes Centre speakers to take the stage at Diabetes Professional Care conference 2024
Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) is proud to announce that nine of our experts will be speaking at this year’s Diabetes Professional Care (DPC) conference, taking place in London on 15 and 16 October 2024. This annual event is one of the UK’s most important gatherings for healthcare professionals involved in diabetes care, offering an essential platform for sharing knowledge, research, and innovations.
Our speakers will present the latest research, innovative approaches, and insights into diabetes prevention, management, and treatment. Here’s a preview of what to expect from the LDC team at DPC 2024:
Tom Yates, Professor of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior and Health, is part of a panel discussion on the topic of: ‘The 4 pillars of lifestyle medicine: a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to prevention and management’ at 11.45am-12.30pm on Tuesday 15 October in the Nutrition and Lifestyle Clinic.
Rachel Berrington, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Diabetes Foot Lead, will present: ‘Make your foot assessment count’ from 12.15-12.45pm on Tuesday 15 October in the Foot and Wound Clinic.
Dimitris Papamargaritis, Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant, is presenting a session titled: ‘Obesity Pharmacotherapy’ at 3.00-3.30pm on Tuesday 15 October in the Nutrition and Lifestyle Clinic.
James Ridgeway, Education and Research Associate for EDEN and Diabetes Specialist Nurse is presenting two talks alongside Dr Ian Lawrence, Head of Service for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) at the conference. The first talk is titled: ‘Hybrid closed loop system roll out 6 months on: challenges and lessons learnt’ at 4.00-4.30pm on Tuesday 15 October in the Keynote Theatre. The second talk, ‘Hybrid closed loop pathway and patient journey’ will then be presented at 4.45-5.15pm on Tuesday 15 October in the Keynote Theatre.
Laura Willcocks, Assistant Director of Integration, Education, and Innovation for LDC, is presenting: ‘Why culture, safety and compassion in healthcare is everyone's business’ from 11.45am -12.15pm on Wednesday 16 October in the Keynote Theatre.
Dr Louisa Herring, Physical Activity, Research, and Implementation Lead Research Associate, is presenting a talk titled: ‘What a difference a day makes - The importance of 24-hour physical behaviours in diabetes and cardiovascular management’ from 10.30-11.15am on Wednesday 16 October in the Nutrition and Lifestyle clinic.
Erica Richardson, Nurse Lecturer and Lead Diabetes Research Nurse, is presenting a talk titled: ‘Using all available resources to support shared care decision making.’ from 2.45-3.15pm on Wednesday 16 October in the Keynote Theatre
Victoria Alabraba, Education & Research Associate for EDEN will present: ’Young and early onset T2 diabetes’ from 3.00-3.30pm on Wednesday 16 October in Clinical Theatre 1.
Cathy Campbell, Diabetes Technology Specialist Midwife, is giving a talk about: ‘Technology in pregnancy - empowering both patients and healthcare professionals’ from 3.45-4.15pm on Wednesday 16 October in Clinical Theatre 1.
