Professor Melanie Davies' opening plenary at the Diabetes Self Management Alliance Conference 2024
Professor Melanie Davies, Co-Director of the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), opened this year's Diabetes Self Management Alliance (DSMA) conference.
During the opening plenary, Professor Davies explains that the DSMA conference offers a unique opportunity by bringing together clinicians and academics with people who have first-hand experience of living with diabetes.
Professor Davies continues to reflect on the history of diabetes self-management, including the Chronic Care Model, The Consensus Report, the history of the DESMOND programme and our work on a new, upcoming programme for early onset of type 2 diabetes.

The DSMA was formed in 2014 in Leicester and is an international collaboration between the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), The University of Galway, Steno Diabetes Centre Copenhagen, and the Diabetes Center Berne.
