3D foot scanner reliability for footwear fit and design study
Are you aged over 18 years old? Are you able to walk unaided and up a few steps? If yes, please consider participating in our study ‘Reliability of 3D foot scanner for use in diabetes footwear fit and design’.
The 3D foot scanner is a device being used for the first time at Leicester General Hospital to record the shape and dimensions of feet. We are looking for healthy volunteers willing to have their right foot scanned by this device, which uses a set of cameras and a measuring laser to record foot shape and dimensions. We hope to ultimately use this device in order to produce orthopaedic footwear for patients with diabetes but we would like to test measurement reliability.
By reliability, we mean that three scans of the same foot should be almost identical with only very tiny variations in the foot measurements they make. The purpose of the study is to confirm this particular brand and model of 3D foot scanner makes reliable measurements which are sufficiently good for eventual use in making patient footwear or assessing the fit of patient’s habitual footwear. If you’d like to be a part of this study. we’d love to hear from you. P
