NEWS: Dr Pratik Choudhary has joined world-leading Leicester Diabetes Centre

Dr Pratik Choudhary has joined Leicester Diabetes team of experts as a Professor in type 1 diabetes and technology, and will lead the clinical service for the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in type 1 diabetes.

Dr Choudhary joins the team from King’s College London, where he was a Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Specialist Registrar. His eminent research career centres around type 1 diabetes, focussing on hypoglycaemia and diabetes technology.

As part of his work at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, Professor Choudhary will play a leading role in Leicester’s NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), in redesigning how clinical care is delivered for type 1 diabetes and generating new insights into diabetes technology.

Dr Pratik Choudhary said:

“I am really excited to join the fantastic team at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, to lead a type 1 diabetes research programme based around using data to support mind and body. I will work with the clinical team to bring new technologies and research based innovations to the clinic, to improve outcomes for people living with type 1 diabetes.”

Professor Melanie Davies, Professor of Diabetes Medicine at the University of Leicester and Co-Director of the Leicester Diabetes Centre said:

He is recognised as one of the leading lights in type 1 diabetes and technology, known for his passion and enthusiasm to drive innovation and improve care for people with type 1 diabetes. Professor Choudhary will build on our excellent research base and take type 1 diabetes in Leicester to the next level.”

Professor Kamlesh Khunti, Professor of Primary Care Diabetes and Vascular Medicine at the University of Leicester and Co-Director of the Leicester Diabetes Centre said:
