The Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group: A core research group, focussing on ground breaking research in the prevention and management of chronic disease
The Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group, hosted at the Leicester Diabetes Centre and based at Leicester General Hospital, comprises of University of Leicester staff and students and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust staff.
The Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group undertake ground breaking research, harnessing diet and movement behaviours across the 24-hour day as therapies in the prevention and management of chronic disease.
This includes the five S’s: sleep, sitting (breaking prolonged sitting), stepping, sweating and strengthening/stretching. The Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group researchers were recently ranked second overall in the country for the quality of their research publications, impact and environment for Sport and Exercise Sciences through the 2021 Research Excellent Framework.
The Leicester Lifestyle & Health Research Group work closely with our NHS partners to develop commissioned services, resources and guidelines to ensure that our research into movement behaviours is translated into NHS services or through other pathways such as occupational health.
