Midlands Liver Research Alliance
The recent NIHR Liver partnership call was to bring together national partnerships in order to bridge the research gaps and burden. Metabolic-dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) at population level is apparent with prevalence and severity disproportionally is affected by ethnicity, socio economic status and geographical location.
The Midlands Liver Research Alliance is a national partnership, consisting of 3 BRC’s (Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham) and through expertise and knowledge sharing across our partners we will establish a network of research centres of excellence, supported by emerging and established research leaders. Our PPIE network will identify research priorities and obesity-related liver disease questions to inform high quality research. The Midlands Liver Research Alliance will focus on cultivating a sustainable public and stakeholder engagement network, providing culturally appropriate resources for the hard to reach and underserved communities
